Privacy notice

Who is responsible for your information?

Leo de Montaignac, trading as Montaignac Advisory, is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. For privacy questions or requests, email leo@montaignacadvisory.com.

Information collected and why

When you use the enquiry form, you provide your name, email address and message. If you contact me directly, I also receive the information you choose to share and our correspondence. Please do not include sensitive personal information or confidential business material in an initial enquiry.

I use this information to respond, arrange a call and discuss potential advisory work. Where you are considering a contract with me personally, the lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract. For business contacts enquiring on behalf of an organisation, and for general correspondence, I rely on my legitimate interests in responding to enquiries and managing business relationships.

Providing information is voluntary, but I need your contact details and enough information to respond. Sending an enquiry does not subscribe you to a mailing list. I do not use enquiry information for automated decisions or profiling.

Service providers and sharing

The enquiry form uses Web3Forms to process submissions and deliver them to me by email. Web3Forms and its infrastructure and spam-prevention providers may also process technical information, including IP addresses, for delivery and security. See the Web3Forms privacy policy and data processing agreement.

Website hosting and email providers process information needed to operate their services. Information may also be shared with professional advisers or public authorities where necessary for legal obligations or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. I do not sell your personal information.

International processing

Web3Forms operates from India and uses infrastructure in multiple regions. It states that international transfers are covered by safeguards described in its data processing agreement, including standard contractual clauses. Contact me if you would like further information about the safeguards applicable to your enquiry.

How long information is kept

I retain enquiry correspondence while dealing with your request and any resulting business discussions. When deciding whether it is still needed, I consider whether discussions remain active, any resulting engagement, and applicable record-keeping obligations or legal claims. Information that is no longer needed is deleted. If an enquiry leads to an engagement, relevant records are retained for managing that engagement and meeting those obligations.

Separately, Web3Forms states that submission data is retained for up to three years, unless a shorter period applies or it is deleted earlier. Contact me to request deletion of an enquiry; applicable legal requirements may mean some records must be retained.

Website technology and external links

The website code does not add advertising cookies or analytics trackers. Hosting and security services may process technical information to deliver and protect the website. Links to other websites, including LinkedIn, lead to services with their own privacy notices.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can request access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing or a portable copy. You can also object to processing based on legitimate interests. These rights are subject to legal conditions and exceptions. Email me using the address above to make a request.

You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. You are welcome to contact me first so I can try to resolve your concern.

Updates

This notice may be updated if the website or the way information is handled changes. The date above identifies the latest version.
